Case 1 :
Clinical manifestations: He had been study very hard and sleep late since went to high school. 3 years previously, plaques had appeared on the patient’s trunk and limbs, the plaques were itchy and became covered by silver-white scales. Despite treatment in other clinics, the plaques gradually increased in number. The patient felt discomfort in the throat and caught colds easily. Appetite, urine and stool were normal. Examination revealed pale red, coin-shaped infiltrative plaques distributed over the trunk and limbs and covered by silvery-white scales. Plaques were densely distributed on the back, buttocks and thighs. The tongue body was pale with a thin white coating, the pulse was deep.
Diagnosis: Plaque psoriasis TCM Pattern: Blood-dryness
Treatment principle: Nourish and invigorate blood, clear heat and relieve toxicity
Formula : sheng di huang 15g, shu di huang 15g, chishao 15g, bai shao 15g, dang gui 15g, chuan xiong 10g, hong hua 10g, ban lan gen 30g, da qing ye 30g, zi cao 15g, qian cao gen 15g, shan dou gen 10g, xuan shen 15g, tian hua fen 15g, tu fu ling 30g, yi yi ren 30g, ye jiao teng 30g

After 14 bags of the decoction, the patient no longer felt discomfort in the throat, and some of the lesions were beginning to disappear from the entre. After another 42 bags of the decoction and external application of Pu Lian Gao for the same period, the plaques had disappeared completely, leaving pigmented patches.

Prescription : zi cao 15g, qian cao gen 15g, ban lan gen 30g, da qing ye 30g, tu fu ling 30g, huai hua 30g, shan dou gen 10g, xuan shen 15g, gua jin deng 10g, tian hua fen 15g, bai xian pi 30g, gan di huang 15g, chi shao 15g, jin yin hua 15g, yi yi ren 30g, ling yang jiao fen 0.6g

Outcome: After 21 bags, the skin lesions had completely disappeared, leaving pigmented spots, the throat discomfort had also been relieved. The patient was told to continue with the prescription for another 14 bags to consolidate the improvement.
